Volleyball

Littleton Youth Sports Volleyball participates in the Arapahoe Youth League (AYL). We offer teams for boys & girls ages 5-14. We are a developmental volleyball league stressing the fundamental volleyball skills, sportsmanship and fun. We strive to provide a true sports academy for athletes to learn to play and love the sport, and to develop coaches to make this goal possible.

Teams are organized by grade level. 1st grade & Under, 2nd-7th grade, and Senior (8th & 9th Graders). There are two divisions of play at each level (AFC & NFC). Players are allowed to play up one grade level but may not play down a grade level. This is a coed program. To develop the K/1 players, the emphasis is on having fun while learning the very basic skills of volleyball. To help insure this, scores are not kept, teams will play using a 45 minute continuous running clock, and players continuously rotate through each of the four positions on the court. For grades 2nd & up, volleyball matches consist of three games to 21 points while using a continuous running clock of 55 minutes.

Volleyball used by grade level:

1st, 2nd, 3rd grade: Oversized Trainer
4th, 5th, 6th grade: Volleyball Lite
7th, 8th, 9th grade: Any high school approved regulation volleyball

Court Size:

1st Grade: 30' x 40'
2nd-9th Grades: 30' x 60'

Net Height:

1st-5th Grade: 6'6"
6th-9th Grade: 7'4"

The Season:

Matches are played on Saturdays. Each team will play eight (8) regular season games begin March 9 and play through mid May. All teams are invited to participate in the postseason volleyball tournament. The tournament is single elimination with the championship games to be played May 18.

Game Location:

Game Location is the Momentum Fieldhouse, 7347 Revere Parkway, Suite 100 Unit A & B, Centennial 80112. When going to that facility - please use the entrance on the north side of the building complex.

Practices:

Practices will begin in early March, or as soon as gym space becomes available in the Littleton area. During the season, each team can expect one to two practices per week.

Team Formation:

If you are new to the Littleton Youth Sports Volleyball program and have a desire to have your son or daughter placed on a team with a friend, or a particular coach please note this on your registration. Although we cannot guarantee placement, we will do our best to place kids with friends or schoolmates.

Uniforms:

All players are required to wear their assigned complete uniform with the correct roster number on the uniform in order to play in an AYL match. Shorts with logos, writing or colored piping are not allowed. Knee pads are strongly encouraged to be worn at practices and games. Uniforms consist of a jersey, shorts, and socks. Uniforms are available for purchase at PROformance Apparel, 6905 S. Broadway, Littleton CO 80122 (Ridge Road & Broadway). Do not have your jersey number placed on the uniform until you confirm that number with your coach. Uniforms are not included in the price of registration.

Volleyball Fees:

K/1st grade: $160
2nd-9th graders: $195

Volunteer Opportunities:

Please consider volunteering as a coordinator, coach, assistant coach, or a team-parent for the 2013 season. The Littleton Youth Sports Volleyball program needs your help to continue providing quality youth programs for our community - please consider volunteering your time. A mandatory coaches meeting will be held, date and time still to be determined. All coaches are required to register as a coach on the registration page and undergo a background check.
